Maya and Multi Take

I read a post from back in September talking about how to split animations from Maya into individual animation loops such as walk, run, jump, throw, etc. The answer at that point was that you have to buy MotionBuilder and use its “multi take” feature.

Otherwise the documentation says we have to export each individual animation as a separate Maya file.

Neither of these options really offers the flexibility we would like. In our other engine we can go in and define which portions of a lengthy animation sequence are “walk,” “run” etc. We also have control over the number of frames that are included in each vertex animation cycle.

Is there a streamlined way to achieve these results out of Maya without MotionBuilder or exporting lots of separate little files yet?

Any general advice on how to get animations smoothly from Maya to Unity would also be appreciated.

Thanks!

At the moment you can only split your animations into multiple files or use multi takes.

We will support splitting animations into multiple clips from a single file in an upcoming update.

This is a really needed and welcomed feature , is painful learn to use animations from 3d studio max ^^U
