Maya FBX Planes: Newb to Animation Question

Hi there,
I am new to Unity Animations and am having trouble getting my first animation to even be seen.

My situation may be rare, but I dont think impossible to do. My artist has sent me a file, from Maya. It is an FBX and contains…
1 object parent folder
2 images folder with 8 images, which are originally .iff files.
3. materials folder with a single material
4. the animation object.

Anytime I drag any object into the scene it is not visible.

What is odd about my animation is that it is a plane. In that, I have had my artist hand draw his cells, place them on a plane which will animate by running thru the cells. I have talked to a few people who have used this or a similar technique.

I have created a plane object in scene a dragged the animation onto it.

Nothing is working as far as getting this going.

Can someone help me out?

Have you tried looking at the other side of the plane? They are transparent on one side by defualt, you can set its shader type to softocclusion - Leafs or particle additive, this should make it visible both sides…
