Maya to Unity 2d asset import problem

Hi,

Trying to get this character plane…

…to display correctly in unity.

And then replace lerpz in the 2d character scene.

Saves fine in maya, but When I import into unity it only shows the plane with no material.

I exported fbx, no dice. Then tried obj. No dice. Then tried maya file. No dice.

Paypal Beer to anyone who helps me.

Help!

Have you applied a material in Unity?

Of Course!

Where is the Texture located? Have you tried applying the Texture to the Material in Unity?

Also ensure that it is done through UV layout not some texture projection as projections of any kind will not transport

Ah hah.

Well yes I did use the UV layout editor in maya but it still doesn’t work.

The plane and the material files show up in unity, but they don’t want to apply to each other.

Any advice?

Are there any display/render settings I need to be aware of in unity?

Where is the Texture located? Texturing a plane should be pretty simple in Unity

I have created a complete deck of cards in Maya all of which are a 2d plane. The texture shows up fine. Be sure you have your directory set up properly. I place all my textures in the same folder as the object itself. Inside the object folder I have a materials folder all my maya files for each card and all the textures used for those particular objects. Be sure your material is set to be a transparent/diffuse material. Also be sure your texture is a format that Unity can read like a .tga or a .png. Example of my directory structure below.

C:\Users\User Name\Documents\testbed\Assets\Standard Assets\Poker_Game\cards\basic_set

its in this folder I house all my files assosied with the deck of cards. Hope this helps.
