maya to unity vertex animation problem

Hi there,

sorry if it’s a noob question but I am going crazy.
I have an animation made on Maya using nonlinear deformers (squash and bend). I export the fbx and, of course, Unity doesn’t recognize the animation.

Then I baked the animation. Same problem. Unity doesn’t play anything (I saved it as FBX and as MB)

But then I tried something I was pretty sure it would work: I created an sphere, moved a vertex, keyed it, move a frame, move the vertex, keyed it and so on.

But Unity keeps ignoring the animation.

I am fully frustrated. I’ve tried everything and I can’t get any animation to unity.

I am sure I am doing something wrong.
I would truly appreciate any help.

Thanks a lot.

Unity supports bone based animations. No non-linear deformers, no keying at a component level, no morph targets.

Squash and Bend should be pretty easy to replicate with a bone based setup.

You aren’t doing anything wrong.

thanks so much!

It feels better knowing that.

Now, if someone could point me on the right direction on how to setup an squash rig on maya that can be used on unity I would be again truly thankful.
