Mecanim "Death" animation plays, then character stands up in t-Pose

I’ve got a characters “Death” animation working, except that after the animation is done, the character pops up in a t-pose, rather than staying on the ground motionless.

No other animations play, the character is still, but just in the t-pose. Is there a way to force the character to not do anything at all when the death animation is done?

I had a transition from “any state” to “idle”, and that was going automatically. Removing that transition did the trick.
