The smell of old wood, mustiness and burned oil lamp is something that we always combine with the Middle Ages. This was the spark that caused our lead 3D designer to create the “Medieval House” Asset.
What you get
The house: 4k triangles low poly model
Wood stumps
A barrel
A ladder
A well
A sample scene
Ground texture with normal mapping
Correct UV, UV 1 maps atlases
2048x2048px hand painted textures
15 draw calls on sample scene
Baked lights
Vignetting effect *
Particles:
Smoke
Fire
Sparks
Rest assure that everything is hand made from scratch including the design.
Technical specification
The whole scene do work at approximately 60fps on the old iPhone 3GS, so you can be sure that on a newer devices the performance is stellar.
The sizes of all the textures are made with “the power of two” in mind. Thanks to this you can be sure that the graphic card is being used optimally. Of course all the textures are placed on one atlas.
All the model are correct in scale, position and rotation. Of course all the vertices are welded together as they should. Last but not least, face normals are correctly prepared.
What kind of model I will get? Can edit it?
I’m thinking to buy this awesome house, to learn to hand paint textures, and test directly on it.
Then, how would be the best way to do that?
About the models: they are exported in the FBX format. So you should be able to do modify them at will. About the textures. They are rasterized. But we will push a update of this asset with all the PSD files so you can take a look at how they where made.
The update should show up at the end of next week. First our 3D designer need to organize all the layers and name them properly.
I saw one time, a video of someone in a program like Maya, I dont remember, with the model, and painting on the same program of 3D Modelling.
He was using photoshop too, all integrated, then, sometimes he was painting on the “Maya”, and other times in photoshop, using some effects/brushes.
Do you know how I can reach the same “framework”? Some reference?
I dont want to steal your job, I just want to learn to do that, more for hobby, and to customize to a “cartoon like” texture.
Yes, if you have the right plugin for Unity3D, you can compile the asset for the mobile devices.
About the question related to Maya and Photoshop - i will talk to our 3D designer and ask him if he can give you some tips. But expect a answer tomorrow. Today we need to finish some stuff at work.
I saw that you uses this house in Scarecrow’s game. Then, my question is just to get cleared:
I can use this house, in any game, any place, by any way? Buying this, it will become mine? How works the license?
This can be a newbie question, but I never asked anyone about it!
Blaze, asking questions is the best way for learning
First, read my previous answer - i updated the post because i misunderstood you. Sorry for that.
About the latest question. Yes we have Scarecrow HD: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/scarecrow-hd/id515274832 on iTunes and we did use our house. Basically the game is a tech demo showing of our asset. Not that you brought that up we could give the game away for free since we are selling the asset
So, answering your question: “Medieval House” is free to use once you bought it and you can make any game out of it.
We have to clarify one thing. In the Web Player we did use a plugin called “FingerGestures”. Since we don’t own this plugin we didn’t included it in the Asset itself.
If you liked the style of this little house. Check out our latest asset, this time you get a whole western town that you can easily expand with new building. you get the original textures so you can make your own 3D buildings and apply the same wooden material to get a consistent look.
The name of the asset is “Far West Pack” and you can find it under this thread.
