Menu item stuck on screen, still persists after closing unity / monodevelop

here is a screenshot. Only way to remove it is to restart my computer :frowning:

I couldn’t find the process in the task manager either

I’m in windows 7 using unity 5. Not sure what else is relevant.

force kill explorer.exe?

It’s a handle that got somehow detached, happens from time to time in lots of apps not just unity, usually I find it’s when I have been struggling for mem or resources. Simply logging off should have picked it up.

Graphics card? Latest driver? Happens all the time?

Unity is the only app this happens to me in, having used eclipse/maya/photoshop, etc. It has happened to me at least 2 times I think in the past 2 weeks. I know that it’s not that frequent, but it’s a real pain to have to restart everything when I’m working. Graphics card is Radeon R9 280. Is this really a graphics card issue, though? I’d rather not risk updating my drivers and breaking any of my games that work fine.

restarting explorer did not work.

I was able to fix it following the advise here when you said it is just a windows issue. Start-> run → ‘tskill dwm.’ Thanks. windows 7 - Menu select item stuck on screen after context or command menu has closed - Super User
