Merge to Plastic SCM and transparency from Unity

Hello, earlier this morning I received an email from Plastic SCM telling me someone invited me to their Plastic Cloud Organization. I contacted this person and they said that they did no such thing. After a bit of research, I found an email from Unity about the move from Collaborate to Plastic SCM that I got in October of last year. The email stated some generic information and that they would be in touch when things start to happen.
Cut to the email I got this morning from Plastic. Since the person “inviting” me to their Cloud Organization didn’t actually invite me they suspected their email was hacked and someone was impersonating them. Neither they or I remembered the email about this from Unity at the time and only because I looked deeper into it did we realize what it was.
Has anyone else seen these emails coming through? I just wish Unity would’ve sent a more recent email about this happening and to expect it or something.

Also, while looking into it, I found a page about this on Plastic’s website saying that all Collaborate projects will be deleted on the 28th of this month. In 5 days. Plastic SCM - Plastic SCM
In theory, they’ll have everything transferred over to Plastic and no data will be lost but I would rather not bank on that idea and would’ve hoped for a notice from Unity about it so that I could double-check and back up any projects I have before this happens.
Basically, I’m wondering if anyone else had this reaction and/or has received similar emails from Plastic. I also wish Unity would be more transparent about these things and let their users know what’s happening with their data and when.

Side note, I checked the Unity Teams website and the only thing about this is a small blue bar saying they’ve updated to Plastic. Logging into my Organization page, there is nothing about this at all and I can still purchase seats as well as storage even though this sounds like I won’t be using that in the near future.

I don’t know if this is germane, but I got an “invite” email for every organization to which I had been added as a Unity Teams member prior to the transition. Your unexpected registration sounds more like an error (whether user or systemic) than any kind of malicious activity.

Over the last few weeks I’ve been bombarded by email letting me know that Collaborate repositories would be moved to Plastic, but then I belong to a lot of different organizations. Perhaps some of the notices sent to you were filtered at the endpoint.

Same here. Every Unity student team that I have been part of since 2017 that has used Collaborate seems to have auto-sent me an invite for Plastic SCM. It’s great that Unity have upgraded this (though why not use GitHub integration?) but why the auto-spamming? Not cool. As with Zach and Marble, I have contacted some of these folks and they had not instigated an upgrade to Plastic SCM, nor initiated an invite - some hadn’t even touched Unity in years!

Cheers,
JIm
