Mesh disappears when upgrading project

There is a weird bug where several meshes disappear (reference to submesh in FBX is lost in Mesh Filter) when upgrading my project from Unity 2018 to Unity 2019.2

I have a reasonably small repo which is 100% reproducible. Hopefully this can be fixed because currently I can’t use the latest version of Unity anymore and fixing this manually is too time consuming.

Any update on this isseu? I couldnt find the issue 1155649 anywhere.

Issue appears as resolved, but still occured when trying to upgrade a project from Unity 2018.3.5f1 (64-bit) to Unity 2019.2.10f1 (64-bit).
