First of all, I’m not 100% sure if this is by design, but I haven’t seen it mentioned anywhere that this would change, and if it is by design, I would say it’s very bad design.
So the actual problem I’ve noticed is that a particle emitter that has its render mode set to ‘Mesh’ is messed up in the beta, compared to 5.6. The mesh faces the camera and the normals seem to be inverted.
Here’s a picture of a simple particle system with the mesh set to the default Cube mesh in 5.6:
Here is that exact same particle system in 2017.1f1:
Is this a bug or is it a design choice? And if it is a bug, is it known about? I haven’t made a bug report just yet because I want to make sure it’s not a design choice.
I believe he wants you to submit 5.6 project with the particle system, but the bug report should be for 2017.1. That way they can perform the project upgrade from 5.6 to 2017.1 and see the issue occurring.
I got it cleared up now and it was the “Render Alignment” that was messing with me. I honestly didn’t know that existed, and I even went over all the fields multiple times and STILL managed to miss that one. Now I just feel stupid…
Yeah but it should have upgraded automatically for you, and it should probably not be inside out. Glad you’re unblocked but we will still find out the cause of this using your bug report
PS Don’t feel stupid - render alignment for meshes is new in 2017.1!
