It seems it would be easier for Project messiah to support FBX than Unity to support what formats it does, I mean .fbx is supported by most major brands.

You might be able to use something like Ultimate Unwrap 3D with it to convert your .X file into a .FBX then import it into Unity.

I use this right from Autodesk Autodesk | 3D Design, Engineering & Construction Software its a converter, I use 3DS export and it converts nicely to FBX.

The problem with that is that none of the files it supports includes the animation data. I haven’t used Messiah but looking at it’s website I see that it can export .X files which do support animation data. UU3D does a very nice job of converting models and animations and the price is pretty darn reasonable.
