So I’m seeing more and more questions and answers being posted here, day after day, that have no reason to be accepted. Starting to look like the mods are just going through and accepting anything that’s there. I don’t like to be one to complain, but it’s filling the forum up with more spam than people can sift through, and stops us from actually helping people to our best ability. What is everyone elses’ thought on this? What do you suggest can be done about it? I personally think that the site needs dedicated staff, instead of the whole “1,000 karma being a mod” thing that’s going on now. Having a lot of people who don’t think about what they’re accepting equals a lot of extra crap.
I think the situation is …ok at the moment.
I agree with you that there do seem to be mods that just accept every question in the queue. I personally do sort of agree with those people: as long as it’s a question and related to Unity it might as well be accepted. In my opinion, the moderation queue is there to block obvious spam and trolling.
I don’t feel publishing lots of questions from the moderation queue is a bad thing. The good questions are still there. If the original poster has a sensible bone in him/her, that question will also have an interesting topic. It is the responsibility of the OP to make his question interesting enough for someone to bother answering it. I’ve just been ignoring the bad questions (not formatted, incoherent or otherwise hard to understand) and actually find it surprising that other people take the time to decypher some of those questions and give a good answer.
I think the underlying problem here is that good (Unity) game devs with interesting problems can solve most their questions on their own, so they have no need to ask here… That’s why I started frequenting here; I realized problem solving was the most fun aspect of game development =)
