[META] When do you comment vs. Answer?

Ok, so there are “comments” and there are “answers.” So when is each used? My guess is that if you have an answer, great… but if you’re offering or asking for tidbits, clarification, or more info you use a comment?

Am I close? Way off?

You’re right: if you think to have a reasonable answer, use Your answer. To ask something, use a comment. If you are very unsure about your answer, you can post a comment suggesting your solution; if ok, convert it to answer later with the more button.

If you’re specifically answering the question that’s asked, post it as an answer. Anything else (suggesting a different approach, asking for clarification, correcting things in someone else’s answer, etc.) should be posted as a comment.
