Our Unity iPhone game; Metal Sun, has been submitted and is under review! Expect a mid-July release. Metal Sun is a 3D combat flight sim based on the 80’s arcade game: ‘Defender’.

Lookin’ good, can’t wait to try it out myself!

Congratulations is a nice work.

Wow, that looks amazing! And all that is running on the iPhone? That’s incredible. How long have you been working on this?

Thanks Mia. I’ve been working on it for about 4 months or so. It was originally supposed to be a collaborative effort but my artist/modeler had to quit pretty early on which turned it into a huge solo effort - which in turn took me 2x as long as I first estimated. Kinda painful but a good learning experience. Crash course lol!

Good lookin’ stuff. Is the music in the vid, the music in the game?

Who did the music?

BTW, I assume the game is accellerometer controlled. I hope you’ve got a way to recalibrate center (best I’ve seen is a shooter called Abigale). Most people don’t and they assume everyone plays at the same angle that they made the game at.

Looking forward to checking your game out. Let us know when it hits.

Thanks!

The music was contracted. Whats in the video is related to whats in the game but not actually included. I didn’t put too much music into the game as there’s still issues with performance music on the iphone.

It is 100% accelerometer controlled flying and absolutely you can recalibrate the tilt angle at anytime to any angle you like.

I’ll post an update when it’s available which should be sometime this week.

Game looks really fantastic! Very high production values!

Would you be willing to share any thoughts about the terrain you created, what method you used, things that worked and things that didn’t?

It looks like you’re not using a single texture mapped over the whole terrain, but are mapping parts of the terrain to different textures-- how did you get them to blend well?

Thanks!

Getting terrain to look good render fast on the iphone was a real challenge but I’m more than happy to cover the steps I took.

Hit my site and look for: ‘VIVID’ in the ‘Our Tech’ section of the nav menu on the left side. VIVID is the name I give to the overall process of scene composition I’m using in the Metal Sun game. The sections new so not complete yet (been busy with the game) but that’s where I’ll be posting the info.
