Micro Shadows in Deferred

Quick request for knowledge -- are Micro Shadows supposed to work in HDRP Deferred, or are they limited to Forward? If they do work in Deferred, are there particular approaches (in shader, textures, etc) that would bring them out more clearly? (Aside from enabling in the volume)

Thank you! Knowing it's supposed to work was enough of a lead to track down the issue.

In case this crops up for others: There is some conflict between Light Layers being enabled (possibly specific to certain project/light setups) and Micro Shadows working in Deferred Rendering. With Light Layers disabled, Micro Shadows is 1:1 with Forward.
