I think it will be quite a cool new OS.

If they deliver a stable version it looks interesting,
hopefully not a “Millennium” type of OS that is only remembered as a total failure.
Vista wasn’t too bad on launch but still needed some SP for best performance and interoperability,
Windows 7 was much better, XP was trouble for quite a while.
The “millenium type” of already happened, was known as Vista (and vista was a failure till the very end, the SP didn’t help)
I hope this one will finally be what was meant to happen with Vista already but hasn’t landed yet.
Vista worked well here, though Win 7 is better.
Edit: 64 bit versions
Can you even update that computer on display in a hardware sense? No way in hell am I buying a computer if it isn’t future proof, I think I will stick to building my own computers.
The actual OS seems okay though, anything could be better than the current 32 bit Vista I’m on right now ><
Vista worked yes but only with 6GB+ RAM on the 64bit edition.
With 4GB and below it was just a horror, I saw how it worked out on my GFs 3GB 32bit OS back then, which compared to my 8GB Core 2 Duo E6600 “slugged around” like hell
Yeah the start up is horrible, I pretty much permanently use the Sleep Mode now instead of turning it off and on.
was not just that. The permanent use of over 1GB of windows and the side effects of some of the services (which my GF wanted / required for her usage) made it that slow that my system even with running defragger and AV scan still was more performant.
old news…i mean really OLD news. (aug. last year it was already announced by MS)
