Migrating a project from pc to mac

From - Windows 7
to - Mac 10.6.8

Unity crashes on import every time. If I go through and delete most of my assets I can get it to start up, but that isn’t a solution.
(Project is > 3gb)
Is there something unity generates for windows that I need to be deleting? Or some setting I need to switch on the windows side first?

Are you copying the Library folder over with the project?

Yes, the whole project folder.

Might not do anything, but you could try zipping the project on the PC side and unzipping it on the Mac side, rather than copying straight over.
