MiniMap for car racing game

i want to make a miniMap for my car racing game…can any body guide me how i can do this…sceernShot is given…

I’d look at having the track in the minimap as a picture/texture, it’s not going to be changing afterall.

For plotting the cars, you’ve got the world x and y position for each of them, you just need to scale that down to a coordinate you can use in the GUI rect the minimap texture is on.

so say the GUI rect for the minimap is 100 x 100 and the bounds of the track/world are 10000 x 10000 and the car has a current position of (8000, 2000) you need to plot a “spot” at ( (8000 / 10000) * 100 , 2000 / 10000 * 100) on the GUI rect.

I’d set up a layer for minimap objects, and add extra renderers on that layer only to objects that should show up in the minimap. Then set up a camera that renders only that layer. If you’re using Pro, have that camera render to a texture that you display in your GUI. If you’re using free, set the camera’s rectangle and depth so that it sits where you want it to on top of your main camera. Done.

As LeftyRighty said, since the track wouldn’t change I’d also use something cheaper to render than the actual track.
