I am working on an interactive character living in a cage. Our company recently decided to make the character into a ragdoll so that when activated he could be tossed about the environment, so I was excited to find a video of a Unite presentation (Getting Physics Right) that explained how Flashbang created a system for Minotaur China Shop that let a ragdoll be animated.
Unfortunately, after experimenting with configurable Joints on the character, we cannot make them hold a position. The body does remain in the correct place, and follows the rotation of its animation target, as long as downward motion is locked to keep it from sagging, but the character’s arms and legs cannot stay in the right position - even when they don’t fall off. It looks like they might be too heavy but how do I compensate for that?
The presentation mentioned that the animated ragdoll setup would be released as a sample project. I was wondering if this project was in fact released and if it is still online, as it would be very helpful and interesting to see a working animated ragdoll setup, used as the center of a successful game. If not, I would be grateful if anyone could point me towards the important parameters to get right in the initial character setup.
