I save my project most days in a zip file. Today i needed to look at one of the zip files as i had coded something that didn’t work and i needed to look at a previous version.
When i looked to try to find my script I recoiled in horror. I couldn’;t find my script in any zip file. From my Unity project i have a Script folder where all the scripts go and more than one script is missing in the Unity folder on the disc. When i “reveal in Finder” from within Unity for the script i want it shows me it is there but if i go rooting through the directory structure on the disc it is not there !
I don’t know specifically what’s wrong in this case, but this isn’t something I’d recommend. Hard drives are spacious and cheap these days; manually compressing stuff is kinda pointless and a waste of time. Use Time Machine for backups.
Good suggestion. I will get an external drive. I think this is is an issue with the Mac rather than Unity. If i descend the folders in Finder using Desktop i get the problem whereas if i descend the folder hierarchy using my login name then i can see them. Maybe there’s a filter at work ? Seems very bizarre to me.
