mixing and matching body parts w/c4d

i am making an action rpg 3rd person camera with comic graphics, (for simplicity and minimization)

question:

  1. can i make each body section separate and then import them into unity? ie. make legs, torso and head separate and then import them into unity without animation, and animate them in unity(walk, run, craft, attack cycles)?

  2. or should i make the individual pieces (legs, torso and head) in c4d and connect them together in c4d and animate them in c4d before importing them over?
    a. my plan is to make 2 leg sets, and several torsos, muscular, skinny, fat. one for woman and one set
for men. color the sets using texturing to about 30 so i have what appears to be a large variety of
    people.

i am only one man making the entire game, so i need to be as minimalistic as possible without looking to be too much of a short-cutter. for this reason creativity is key.

3.what is the best way to recycle animations as much as possible and also recycle body parts as much as possible but insure that their is an acceptable number of originality?

thank you very much for any help you can give me. i have already begun creating the body parts but don’t know what to do with them in terms of animating them or importing them into unity.

The small body parts (foot, head etc) can be attached to a skeleton rig that has animation. Those are easy to swap in/out. If you have larger body parts (whole lower torso) they need to bound to the bones so they deformed/animate. I’ve not looked at doing this at run-time so I’m not sure how difficult it is.

My best advice is take a look at the sample project for -

1.Yes
2.Perhaps
3.Maybe

Although this is not my field, I will endeaver to answer this thread , very carefully. I agree with Calluhann, pivot’s are very lucreAtive in the animation part, but I would also agree with atmadaenygma in making the large variety as well as the skinny in the male and female prototyping and in the mass productivity and the final project. The mixing and matching must be done carefully to avoid altering the graphic too intensely and losing the originality (what’s my age again?) and also, I would take a large torso for numbering(?)

Oh and, the animation can be done on numerous programs, I suggest ADRIOD PRO!

I also do not know about recycling the parts or importing them .
