I’m going to start by saying I know it is not okay to mix versions of Unity on the same development team. However; I would like some clarification on a few scenarios. Both scenarios assume a development team using Unity Pro.
First scenario - The team contracts art from a remote artist. Would it be okay to suggest that the artist open the art in Unity (free version) to verify that the art imports correctly and looks okay before sending it back to the development team? Would it still be okay even after the art has been paid for?
Second scenario (assuming first scenario is okay) - The team has an in-house artist that works 99% in MAX. Is it okay for that artist to use the free version purely for the reasons in scenario 1? To be explicit - the artist is using Unity only to LOOK at the art and make sure it is ready for the developers.
If these scenarios are not okay, is there a recommended path for artists to verify their work (a Unity “Viewer” application) before approving it for integration?
Thanks in advance for any answers/suggestions.
