Model deforming when imported from 3ds max

I’m working on a mod for the game unturned. And for some odd reason, whenever I import my model from 3DS max 2017 as a fbx ASCII, the model breaks, and as much as I adjust it in unity, when installing the mod in the game, the mesh stays stretched out like shown in the picture.

I solved the problem! I went into max and applied a Reset xForm. That seemed to fix the model in the preview. It probably has something to do with rotation of the vertex on the mesh.
