Hello, I was just wondering what modeling software were you guys using and why ?
I’m using Cinema 4D because my friend had version 10 i think and at his school they gave him version 11 or 12 so he gave me the older one yay for friendship lol.
Hello, I was just wondering what modeling software were you guys using and why ?
I’m using Cinema 4D because my friend had version 10 i think and at his school they gave him version 11 or 12 so he gave me the older one yay for friendship lol.
Any explanation on why you’re using it?
Blender, it’s free and fun once you get use to the controls and learn the keyboard shortcuts.
cheetah3D, because its affordable and works great with unity
I use to have blender, it worked well but i didnt like the texturing process, i dont know i didnt like the layout but it I guess you get use to it.
Hexagon and Carrara because I own them and know them pretty well.
Am I the only one with Cineam 4D ? lol
Hi,
I didn’t wount to create a new topic, but i want to ask, it’s possible to import model from Google Sketchup into Unity 3D?
I think it’s only possible to export to .fbx if you have Pro version.
You could export to obj and then open it in blender and then export to .fbx It’s a lot of jumping but it is possible.
Cinema 4d… even by it’s name is really focused on motion graphics, modeling in c4d is fine, but I wouldn’t argue that they were thinking of video games as a prime target when they were making c4d.
Ditto that, way cheaper than any Autodesk product, and easier to use than Blender. I mean, Hexagon at its core, is very much like Maya in terms of the interface, and control over the object that you are modeling. Also, Carrara is one of the better tools for UV mapping/texturing, and material creation, and all that stuff. Those two apps go very well with each other. Glad someone agrees with me on this.
Unity also imports Obj fine. At least when there is not more than one material. With more than one material i would go the fbx route too.
Good to know, guess if OBJ is supported, I suppose that an export from Hexagon itself might be okay after all. Although I still prefer bringing a Hexagon-based model into Carrara to finish it up, give the model its texture and UV Layout, and bake the textures on from there, and export to .FBX, but now that you brought up the direct .OBJ import…that could change my pipeline altogether.
I have Max,Maya, and carrara. Carrara is great at uv mapping. I am getting blury textures in Max. So I used carrara and no blurred texture.
Okay, then I guess I’ll stick with the Hexagon => Carrara => Photoshop => ZBrush => Carrara => Unity pipeline that I’ve been using then… There, that settles that.
blender because it is free but also power full software, sculptris for the same reason and soon to be zbrush
if u have to free version of google sketchup you can export it to blender then in blender export it to unity this is what i did but i hardly use sketchup but thats what i use to do
In Modeling Maya = 3Ds Max = Blender
3Ds Max Is Awsome
Maya Better For Animation
and Blender is Too Bad for Texturing and lighting
Not really you just don’t know how to use it properly.
and C4D is Good In Modeling
But Not Good For Animation
