Models

I’m I allowed to use models I downloaded from tf3dm in Unity? And then sell the game?

Why are you asking us? Ask TF3DM.

Yep, models that you’ve purchased elsewhere and come with a commercial license are ok to use in Unity. Unity as a piece of software doesn’t mind where models come from.

Be wary though even if the model is labeled for commercial use. You may still need additional permissions from third parties. One good example is the BMW car on the site. It is labeled for commercial use, but you will still want permission from BMW.

in the human history nobody have been sued because of 3d model

Whether or not this is true does not change the legal status of some assets. There have been games that have been pulled from Steam over assets that belonged or were similar to other games.

Typically the order of proceedings is you’ll receive a Cease & Desist followed by a lawsuit if you do not comply. One example of a project that had official resources from a Nintendo game and received a C&D was Super Mario 64 HD.

It is, without a doubt, 100% not true.

For OP:

“* All the models are uploaded by users, thus tf3dm.com is not responsable for their content.”

I knew it was a zombie model but I couldn’t remember which game it was.

isn’t that nonsense? it is like somebody says you shouldn’t make green zombie because I already have made it

No, it was the same model, not just looked like. The model was ripped.

It was ripped off from their game and sold in asset store which is the same thing that can happen in the site asked in the original post (possible illegal model available for free).

from an artist point of view
it is absolute nonsense
if someone tell me make a zombie for me , do I have to think about a zombie that doesn’t look like any zombie? I search in the internet and take some references and make something like those references
but you may find a zombie exactly like my zombie

this is the same for animation it is like somebody says , why your character walks like mine why did you choose red for your background it was my idea

but if I make another super Mario it is a different story

There is a difference from making your own zombie that is in a similar style and outright stealing the asset from a game.

What is nonsense? In case you still did not get it was ripped off as in stolen from other game.

well I think it is just nonsense
I’ve no any idea why that guy told that story but this zombie has a different texture at least and this should be enough

this zombie has a different texture at least and this should be enough

By your logic I’m perfectly fine stealing Mario and changing the texture to make him mine, right? :stuck_out_tongue:
