Modular Castle Construction Kit

I am not sure if this is the correct thread, if not, admins please help a developer out and scoot this into the appropriate thread. I am looking to start a Castle Construction Kit and I wanted to get some feedback from other Unity users. I would like to get feedback in the form of a poll, so here goes.

This is a rough idea (would be more complex shapes and pieces, and of course textured). Basically a bunch of modular pieces that would allow you to build a fortress.

I would go for PC resolution because you can always crunch stuff down for mobile platforms.

I like the model … is that a physical model? If so, where did you get it? I might like to get something similar for my next warhammer game.

So these are a couple of the encyclopedia illustrations of the two types I’d be focusing on. I’m going to keep to the stone types, and won’t be working on the wooden fort versions. My focus will be on the concentric castle layout, though the kit will allow you to build pretty much any type of structure you’d like.

it would be great if we could get inside the towers, rooms, etc as well.

Ah yes forgot to mention that earlier. All of the sections will be traversable from the interior as well. I’m hoping to make the interior hallways/rooms look awesome and be modular as well.

Livestreaming some of my prototyping today.

Simple advice, dont forget to prepare height maps for parallax shaders, also usage of detail textures (diffuse + detail) would be nice. Dont do sharp edges, but “chamfer” everything.

Yep. All sections will have nice uneven bevels for a natural worn look. The shader will also make use of vertex colors to allow for some neat coloring options.

PC by far, give us all the cool detail and then we see

Looks great

I love this! I voted PC. Can’t wait to see the finished product.

Day #1 down, finished working for the day.

Very interesting to say the least. I came across this by accident. Looks very realistic. Nice work!
