Is anyone else finding this “debugger” pretty clunky and just about useless? It crashes a lot, having to close unity before and after use, and finicky “features” is starting to frustrate me. I have submitted numerous bug reports from the unity editor, but, since these crashes are somewhat random, I don’t know whats really causing it, so I don’t expect a fix to be available anytime soon.
Is there any alternative to this debugger (besides print statements all over the place)? BTW, I use C#…I don’t know if matters, but I thought I would put that out there.
Nope no alternative. only mono debugs mono and monodevelop is the official ide and dev environment of mono
also I’m unsure if its monos fault and not the massive databombing the unity editor unhappily does (see the process manager / task manager to see how much it uses … out of my view any reasonable project requires a 64bit OS and 6-8GB of RAM so unity can use the full 4GB)
Things have gotten worse with unity 3.2. I tried to follow the new directions to attach processes, but monodevelop says that unity “actively refuses the connection”…sigh
this makes making complex games much more time consuming. I feel like I’m making DOS games with DJGPP again…
i agree, it’s pointlessly finicky.
