MonoDevelop - Not responding when opening newly created scripts

Hello,

Monodevelop hangs up when opening a new script. I have Unity 5.3.1f1 and Mono 5.9.6

Here is what happens:

  1. Create a new C# script in the Unity editor.
  2. Double click new script → Monodevelop starts.
  3. Monodevelop responds with “This file has line endings (UNIX) which differ from the policy settings…”

At this point Monodevelop hangs up (not responding). I am unable to click the OK to convert button.

*This does not happen if I import scripts from another project, only seems to be happening when creating new scripts.

This has never happened to me before. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Cannot resolve this issue. I have reinstalled a Unity 5.3.1f1 (64 bit on Windows 7). Still get the same problem. MonoDevelop is not responding. Again it seems to happen when trying to edit a newly created script.

Below is a screenshot of MonoDevelop not responding . This is from an Empty project, and a new MyTest C# script.

I’m also having this issue in Unity 5.3.1 on 64 bit Windows 7. I can not create any new scripts and edit them in monodevelop, it just stops responding until I close it. I have reinstalled to no avail.

I was able to resolve this buy deleting the files in (User)\AppData\Roaming\MonoDevelop-Unity-5.0

You’re awesome, that was bothering me for a few hours.

thanks!!!

thanks, worked for me too !!!

I am approaching the end of the day and none of the solutions have worked for me.

  1. Uninstalled and then reinstalled Unity 2017.1.1.f1
  2. Tried changing the “External tools>>Monodevelop(built-in)” option in the Unity preferences
  3. Changed the permissions to Read and Write as mentioned here both for the package contents folder and the Monodevelop app itself
  4. Tried opening monodevelop as a standlone app but that too quits after flashing like 5 to 10 times on the dock.Error thrown is Monodevelop quit unexpectedly. But that too is not prompted always.
  5. I also saw a solution mentioning to end process that is related to Monodevelop but there are no processes running in the Activity Monitor

Trevise’ solution worked for me too

someone give this guy a medal! “trevise”
