I recently tried to run 2 copyies of Unity using the terminal command open -n. It ran successfully and it would only allow you to save in the 2nd copy you made, but that was fine and I realized that. I compared objects / scenes and did what needed to be done then I closed the 2nd copy, then the 1st copy. After closing the 1st copy Unity threw an error saying something about unable to save preferences.
From that point on, my MonoDevelop seems to be unable to save the view settings. Every time I open a script from Unity, MonoDevelop will change the view to “Solution”. I always switch it back to “Default” and it will always open back up as “Solution”.
I’ve deleted the MonoDevelop solution files, with no effect. I’ve tried to delete Unity and re-install Unity 3.3, which had no effect. I am unfamiliar with how to un-install programs in Mac, but I assume the settings are stored somewhere else because after the Install it remembered all my projects and settings in Unity.
I don’t have any problems in Unity at the moment. Are there some settings files elsewhere that is stored? If I can’t fix this i’ll have to switch to TextMate or something.
Yeah here see no difference between Solution Default views… code is always organized by Assembly requiring I drill down 3 layers just to get at a Assets folder and it is super annoying
That plus a large # of other nagging issues inconsistencies is putting me off using MD all together
i say scrap mono develop all together, Its terrible. And yes, every time you open it, you will get that crappy “solution view,” even on the PC. Its been that way since they started shipping unity with mono develop.
On a side note, i feel for you mac guys who cant use vis studio or notepad++.
MonoDevelop is the only way to get debugging at all and the only reasonable C# editor outside Windows where VS is present, independent of how long you turn it heads up. Nothing else even comes into reach of the same galaxy from professional development point of view with automatic code completition and inspection.
dont know why every people complain about mono, i am using it 12 hour a day for my work with unity, i do not have any issue with it, agree it take a bit time at first launch but then that is fine.
and about project folder organization , well i do not see any annoying things there, just get use to it.
