MonoDevelop

Does anyone else have a problem getting MonoDevelop to open when you double click your script inside Unity? I can open MonoDevelop externally with no problem. I understand this is more of an inconvenience than a problem but would still like to resolve this. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Cheers!

I’m in the same boat here however I can’t open it externally either

I have found that it is a problem if you have an error in your script. Doubling clicking the error won’t open MonoDevelop so it won’t take you to the error. :frowning:

But I even tried creating a new script and opening that and it still didn’t work!! Being a first time user this isn’t a vary helpful thing to happen!!! Help would be appreciated!:frowning:

What OS are you using Unity on and which Unity version are you using?
I have used Unity 4.4 to 5.0 on Mac OS Lion / Yosemite and never experienced this.
Double clicking a script will open it in MonoDevelop and double clicking an error will also open it, while the cursor is put to the line the error is located at.

I am using Unity 5.0 on Windows 8.1! I only downloaded it yesterday!!!

literally after I posted that last message it worked first time??? I haven’t tried it since yesterday evening but it miraculously worked??? I will keep you posted on how I do with it!

I’m not positive, but as far as I remember, double clicking an attached script in a component of an object also opened up the script before 5.0. Now, this will show the script file in the Project tab. There you can double click again to open it in MonoDevelop.

Its stopped again!!:frowning:

I use it in 5.0 as well on Windows 8.

Heh, I just tried mine and it miraculously worked too. Haven’t changed a thing! No idea…

i found that if i open monodevelop from the program document that i made a desktop short-cut before i try it from inside unity then it will work when i double click a script  hope this helps!!
