We desperately need a way to animate morph targets, ie vertex morphing. shakes fist at unity not including something so basic natively!
From what I’ve been able to assertain the plugins Mega-Fiers and Polymorpher enable this abilty. Unfortunately, on the face of it Mega-fiers is too rich for our tastes especially when we only need to use this one componant of it. So before we make our choice could I just check with you knowledgeable people here if I’ve missed any other plugins which unlock this ability? Or is it just the 2 that I’ve mentioned?
Any advice and suggestions greatly appreciated.
I’m not sure if this is quite what you are looking for but hopefully it will help:

The wiki morphing solution is not a good choice, it is very slow and does not handle smoothing groups or multiple materials. Polymorpher is better but you have to build your morph data up in Unity which is awkward and offers no multiple targets per channel. MegaFiers offers a complete solution, has exporters for major 3d packages so your artist can work freely, correctly handles smoothing groups and multi materials, allows multiple targets per morph channel and supports animations of morphs from Max, Maya and blender. I have tried all the other morphing packages and only mf works well enough for our needs.
Thanks for the replies guys.
Mike, I appreciate your thoughts, damn that’s a shame about the speed of the wiki solution. RE. Mega-fiers, the problem for us is that’s just not viable financially for what will actually be a small componant to our game. Basically we just need to be able to import some morph targets and then play between them randomly. We have a simple human head that needs to be talking. Nothing fancy like blending between morphs or the other stuff you mention. This being the case can you recommend Polymorpher as being a good option to fill the gap?
I had major problems getting other meshes to work as targets and had lighting issues for complex smoothing groups. I like you thought MegaFiers was a lot of cash but if you consider Polymorpher is $50 for one system, MegaFiers is $150 for 40+ different systems and a full spline system, we have used many other parts of mf in our games and demos which we never thought we would use, the point cache for example has been a boon for some stuff for us. I would suggest you contact the author of Polymorpher and ask for some more info, the forum thread hasn’t been updated for nearly two months and the two demos of the system are very very basic with no video tutorials on the system. In my opinion editing meshes in Unity to make morph targets is hopeless why would you want to do that when you can use Blender, Max or Maya and use proper tools. So get in touch with the author and see if it will do what you need
