I am planning to make a fighting game like tekken/mortal combat… or robo boxing say Real Steel.
Plz suggest me
- Any starter kit or
- Any such fighting game basic source code[any game engine/language not necessarily unity3d] to start off with…
Also please suggest me programming wise
- What all will I need to study
- what all are the major programming components of such a game.
- AI wise what all challenges will I face.
If someone can redirect me to some tutorial kind of thing for such genre of games… will really appreciate your help and might also put your name in credits… 
If your just starting as a game developer and haven’t done much coding or content making for games at all, then I think you have about 1 year of learning all that before you can even make a prototype. I dont know of any 3d fighter ‘kit’ available. But there is a 2d fighter engine called Mugen.
I love fighting games, mostly Tekken and Soul Blade.
Well I am not a starter… And we are 4 coding friends who have split our roles individually
. graphics programming
. Web n Network programming
. AI n Physics programmer
. Overall Researcher n troubleshooter + overall integration
We are planning to use existing royalty free models n textures as we lack a art team.
Or rather we are interested in creating that real steel kinda fighting with proper ai n all programming wise only for now.

I already got the controls and camera and 3D movement done. but I’m working on AI patterns and so forth. http://www.hensoupstudios.com/WebPlayer.html it’s not fully ready. but it’s working except for the AI player which I am working on this week.
Personally consider mortal kombat to be 2D 
Make a fighter like super smash bros. That is a great game
