Now to start off, I have submitted a bug report. The case number is 946511. I will copy and paste what I put there on here.
I recently decided to purchase and download a game called Darkwood off of
steam. After it finished downloading, I proceeded to launch said game. When
launched, the mouse cursor disappeared as usual, but the game screen did
not come up. All I see at this point is my desktop with no mouse cursor,
but I can hear the game sound in my headphones. All attempts to click
around the screen yields nothing, and I have to alt-tab to bring the mouse
cursor back. Now the kicker, I tried to run another top down game called
Shadowrun Hong Kong, and the very same thing happens, in fact all top down
games I launch behave the same, and the only thing they all have in common
is Unity Player. I have tried all the fixes imaginable, and nothing. But
the really confusing part, I have played Shadowrun Hong Kong for 200+
hours, and no issues until now. I am at a loss as to what to do now.
I just wanted to run this by a community that has experience with Unity, it’s workings, and see if this is indeed a Unity problem, or just a problem with my PC.
Do you have the log files? See my signature for where to find them.
Can you see the application tab, like it’s minimized?
Do you know if it’s running in exclusive full screen? I.e does it change your desktop resolution to match the game?
As to the logs, I followed the link in you signature 'where is my log file and followed the directions, however, when I do it says it cannot find it. When I search for Unity in the program files I only get Webplayer64. When I click on that file with in the Unity folder, I get a file that says loader-x64 and .exe for uninstalling, the bug reporter, and web player update.
When any of the top down games is launched, no tab comes up. Just the mouse cursor disappearing, or in the case of Shadowrun the mouse cursor changes skins to what the in game cursor would be, but no in-game screen just my desktop, and the start screen audio can be heard.
As far the Darkwood is concerned, I haven’t even seen the in-game start menu to know if it is in exclusive fullscreen, but I know I had set up shadowrun to be fullscreen when I was able to play it. So to answer the question, no. The desktop resolution remained the same. Not even a flicker. I did however read something in the same vain, and in the set launch options in steam, I typed -window, but that did nothing as well.
Update. This time I launched Shadowrun Hong Kong, and just let it sit there without trying to close the program, and this came up. There hasn’t been an error report up until I let it just sit there this time.
