Motorhackz car survival | indie game in progress

Motorhackz driving game prototype

Motorhackz driving simulation offers different gameplays in an open environment:

  • races
  • battle arenas
  • convoying
  • free driving
  • more to come…

Features: accurate physics for traction / propulsion / 4x4 vehicles, rigs, weapons, several IA behaviors for NPCs, based on waypoints and triggers, large open environment and realtime atmosphere…
Vehicle scripts derivated from “~alternate physic model” available in Unity car tutorial.
Other features based on scripts available to public: Grass on mesh generator, realtime skydome

Beta not yet released, but we’ve uploaded several videos on youtube:

Current development: Motorhackz is currently a stand-alone PC game, intended to become a free-to-play online game.
We’re looking for developpers and production partners, and open to all enthusiasts :°)

Feed back welcome.
;°)

This looks like it could be very fun. Good work so far.

reminds me of Mad Max

Hey, you got it! Mad Max returns!
I’m also looking back at car cames such as Interstate 76, which deserves a decent update…
That’s why I’m working hard on it, on the way to a multiplayer online game, hopefully.
I had a look at your work… you seem also interested in vehicle simulations ;°)

Any chances of a webplayer anytime soon?

Good work, man
Also following this…

I love Mad Max  !!!

Thanks for your comments!

Well, I should give a try soon, with a simple dropbox set up. But for now I handle a 300Mo build for the standalone demo… It still requires some optimizations prior to be brought online (lower maps resolution, 1 or 2 world tiles - currently 16 for a 80x80km world, lower poly models…). I let you know once done ;°)

But the final goal is to make an online game, and I still have to figure out an appropriate web set up and to find the right devs…
I need a serious kick on these aspects, that’s why I just started promoting the project :°p

needs humongous and the little rat kid

nice work

Here is a new screencast of a battle arena mode… struggle against 6 violent NPCs… They beat me up :°(

Motorhackz, survival car game prototype is still in progress.
A long time has passed without giving any news, so I’m happy to update the thread with good news.
A lot of progress in the vehicle rigs, effects, dynamics and in the gameplays, but the big step is a working multiplayer mode! Since last summer, I’ve been working with www.stormancer.com team to implement their multiplayer / cloud gaming solution. It works well with TCP, but as the prototype mostly relies on the physics engine, it rather demands UDP connection that will be available next.
Alpha demo soon, I’ll make a post, but meanwhile you can also check the website :http://motorhackz.wix.com/motorhackz
Looking for fans, testers as well as partners.
But you may also like to give your feedback about it ;°)

When I saw the first video I thought “vehicles need weapons”. Then I saw the latest videos and I thought “cool”

Weapons… I’m halfway to what I have in mind, only machine gun and rocket launcher so far (if you pay attention, you’ll see that they come from legacy Unity demos ;°)
I intend to set up more weapon assets (flamethrower, molotov, etc.), but I’m also heading toward other kind of gears (winch/spear, crane, battering ram and blades…).
The point is to keep the gameplay balanced, or it will end up in a massive deadly melee…

Your game play look like it will be fun to play.

Hey thanks for the thumbs up (a like can help too .°))
I like your world composer. Definitely interested into this as I also extact geo datas from real world. But still not convinced by Unity built-in terrain…

By the way, it’s not the main update in this thread but I’d like to give a quick word about me as a project holder.
This game prototype is almost one-man-made as many others around there. I really plan to push it further since the last improvements provided by my partner Stormancer. I would also like to get other indies involved in the project…
I recently set up brand new social accounts, so you’re warmly invited to support it by any of your favorite means.
Thanks!

How do we get involved actually?

Thanks for asking!
Well, the easiest way is probably to test the prototype when the demo is out (soon) by registering on the website below.
Then, depending on your feedback, you may want to propose code improvements, assets, ideas…
As you might guess, my plans for the future are still flexible - from a crowdfunding model to a co-op indie collective - so we can end up with a fair way to work together.
I’m already using several online collaborative tools where most of the project aspects are available (Git repo, GD book + game logic schemes, Trello task lists…), so I can easily figure out a small (worldwide) team…

Late Update()

Still working hard on Motorhackz, my prototype for a Car Survival Game.
Online mode still in progress, prior to release a public demo. Meanwhile I’ve been working on shaders and lighting, to achieve a PBR look (fake though, because of day/night cycle that doesn’t rely on skyboxes).
Also introducing characters, the female driver (almost not visible here) edited with MakeHuman open source software, and many new assets.

I’m looking for partners for a future development phase, so if you like the project and have some skills in character design / shaders / scripting (C#), you’re really welcome.
