Mouse to world point, given a coordinate

I’d like to be able to convert my mouse pointer’s position to world point, given Y = 0 (ie the world position of the “ground” that the mouse is pointing at, in my flat 3D game). Please tell me there’s a solution for this, that doesn’t require 10 lines of code, or me instantiating a dummy plane with a collider on it??
