I’ve got a very noobish question for you, but unfortunately I can’t figure it out. Basically I create a new project and when I click on the camera it comes up with the cursor which are the different axis you can then click on to drag it around. I add a terrain and again it has the same, I can click on it and drag it around to any position I’d like. Then as soon as I go to the any of the options on the terrain script (raise / lower, textures, trees, etc) this cursor disappears from all objects and I’m unable to figure out how to get it back.
I assume this is possibly something like it changes it to another editing or similar? I know objects are still being selected as when I go back to the camera it has field of view displaying on the screen. Just not the option there to move it around. Yes, I am aware that you can move things but editing the properties manually, but when playing around trying to get things to look right it’s much easier to do by just dragging it around.
If I save the scene / project and re-open it then the cursor does appear again, but as soon as I edit anything on the texture it’s gone again. Obviously not an ideal work around though!
Like I said, I’m sure it’s something simple but for the life of me I can’t see what changes to change it back. If anyone can point me in the right direction on this it would be a great help!
By the way, a quick trick to get something nicely in view is to double click it in the Hierarchy (or use the shortcut F, if I recall correctly). You can also get the Main Camera’s view for ease by selecting it (either in the Scene or better yet in the Hierarchy) and under the View menu on the top bar, select Align View to Selected. Finally, to get the annoying camera lines and the scaling icon, deselect the camera (by clicking in empty space in the Hierarchy is a good way), and under Gizmos along the bar under Scene view, uncheck 3D Gizmos.
Now that the quick Viewing shortcut overview is over, to get the move object cursor(s), you have to select the move tool. Near the top left is a series of four buttons, typically a Hand, a four-way arrow thingamabob, a recycling sign (or two arrows curving around each other), and a weird box thing with arrows out of the corner.
Hand = pan
Four-way thing = move tool (this is the one you want to select)
Recycling = rotation
Box thing = Scaling
Click one of the latter three to change the object cursors. Make sure you got a good view of the object in the SCENE view (I like to double click it in the Hierarchy, zoom back with my mouse, pan, and then change the angle slightly with Pan+Alt key held down).
Many thanks for the help, you went above and beyond and I appreciate it. What I was looking for was that it was deselecting the move up in the top left hand corner and I had to click on the " four-way arrow thingamabob"
I knew it would be something simple like that, just wasn’t sure why it was changing when clicking on texture options.
Thanks again for the help, I’ll sleep a bit easier now that isn’t annoying me!
