Hey guys, I been kind of sticking with the old unity 5.6 for a while to wait for the 2017 versions to work any bugs out, and I’m curious about updating to the latest version on all my projects, many of which are already released on android and iOS.
What I want to know specifically before moving over, is will I lose any compatibility (like with older android or iOS devices or operating systems) which might still be supported on the old unity 5.6? I worry about this because in an update I did in the past, I saw that unity had removed support for android OS versions below 4.0 - which was fine since most devices don’t run that old of an OS anyway, but I still feel like I should make sure I don’t lose any more devices by upgrading! I saw the release notes said something about directx9 support being removed for the editor and windows standalones, as well as other changes to OS High sierra support and whatnot, but I haven’t been reading every release note since 2017 came out, and wanted to make sure I didn’t miss any changes to android and iOS support most importantly.
FYI I know you can keep previous versions of an app on the google play store (and I did that, to continue supporting devices below 4.0 or whichever version was the new minimum in 5.6), but I still would like to be aware if that will be required again.
Thanks ahead of time for anybody who knows the answer!
