Multi platform vs In-App purchases

Hello!

I really apreciate if someone experienced could clarify my concern about 11.1 guideline:

I’m planning to develop a multiplatform social game. The business model would be exactly what Farmville does.

People could buy In-App virtual goods, and use them as well independently of the platform. For example: buy an item inside Facebook app with FB credit and use it in iPhone and vice-versa.

It seems to be forbidden by Apple’s standards and raises some questions in my mind:

How Apple look at 11.1 and Farmville selling model?

Do I have a chance to get my app rejected because 11.1 guideline?

Do big companies like Zynga have privilegies over indie developers in these cases?

Has anyone in the community already handled this situation that could share some real experience?

Thanks!

Well doesn’t Farmville use only in-app-purchases on iOS…?

You can login with your Facebook account when playing Farmville on iOS. Both platforms, iOS and Facebook, share the same farm, coins and FV cash. When you make changes (or purchases) in one side, it reflects to the other. Facebook to iOS and iOS to Facebook…

Well, maybe they update your cash amount on their own server after the in-app purchase through Appstore ?

Correct. Surely Zynga does it. But this isn’t the main issue. The point here is to give users an opportunity to spend their money outside Apple boundaries while using their iDevices. That’s what 11.1 guideline seems to forbid. After some googling I realized that Apple subjectively relies over this topic since it’s quite a gray area.
