Multiple "Project" tabs without them being in sync?

I often find myself jumping between a few (say 5) different locations in my assets. This is extremely annoying, and would be nice to have a project browser tab per folder or part of the project.

I thought doing “Add Tab → Project” to open a second one would solve this, but they end up always being in sync when I select anything in one of them.

I know there’s an option to “lock” it with the little lock in the top right, and this works for a single directory, but it closes the tree navigation in the locked directory. What I’d want is a way to lock it while keeping the directory browser, so that I can say have one tab just for my animation parent directory and keep browsing in there.

Is there a way to do this, or an asset that provides this? I know of some that allow opening a specific directory, but I’d really like to keep the tree view as well.

You can use the Search feature to have persistent windows showing a select number of assets, be it type, name, folder etc.

Here’s the manual page. It takes a while to grok it but it‘s well worth investing an hour or two.
