We are working to develop a gear system like that of WoW. Basically let players change out gear on the fly.
The issue that comes up, as far as I am told, is that Unity only allows one skin per skeleton (without choking).
Has anyone got any recommendations? We have 4 main parts that would need skins (legs, upper body, face, hands).
It not true that you can only have one mesh per skeleton, its just that having more then one mesh per skeleton is laggy. To somewhat combat this problem, make sure your pieces don’t have any unnecessary influences (for example, legs dont have any influences from the chest).
Uh, I figured out a way that actually involves parenting the bone transforms from a gear/clothing object to the character’s corresponding bone transforms, and it works fine. I posted the scripts a while back…

Yes sorry I mis typed, we know you can use multiples but that it causes lag. Since we plan to have a lot on screen at once this is something we 100% must work around.
