Muse Behavior package deprecation in favour of Behavior package

Hi everyone,

I’d like to clarify the status of Muse Behavior and set expectations. The Muse Behavior package is deprecated and replaced by Behavior.

The reasons behind it were:

  • Behavior should be its own product, giving users access to Behavior Trees / Behavior Graphs. That is its core purpose.
  • Muse and generative AI are an optional layer on top.
    • This point has caused a lot of confusion as people thought a Muse subscription is needed for Behavior.
    • Behavior is free and does not require a Muse subscription.
    • Having a Muse Subscription and Muse Common package in the project will enable Muse generative features in Behavior
  • During the development and experimental state of Muse Behavior we learnt a lot about the serialization for the package and decided to take advantage of the latest serialization features in Unity 6.
    • This means Behavior is targeting Unity 6 and unfortunately the serialization isn’t compatible with previous versions of Unity.
    • Serialization of graphs made with Muse Behavior aren’t compatible with Behavior and need to be recreated.

I hope this clears things out and the team is excited to see what you do with Behavior!
