We created this thread in the hope we’ll all share amazing tips & tricks about the production of Music and Sound Effects for Games. Whether it’s workflow, composition, mixing, mastering, promoting or just creative, everything has its place in this thread.

Let us know what your favourite trick are, here is one of ours:
Full Tone Descending or Ascending: When producing music (especially game music), try to bring your chord progression up or down using full tones, this will give a sort of RPG feel to your composition and give you a ton of ideas for interesting melodies you had never thought of before! Extra Tip: Try this trick in 6/8 instead of 4/4, it sounds even more magical!

This isn’t a tip or trick perse but anyone looking for music to use in their app or game, check out Stream Spotnickdacat music | Listen to songs, albums, playlists for free on SoundCloud. I’m trying to get my stuff in a game. Give it a listen, and of anyone has any questions about how I did this or that, I love talking about this sort of stuff. I just wouldn’t know where to begin.

Okay here’s one of mine.

If you are trying to make orchestral music for video games, using synthisized sounds is cool, but using sounds recorded from real actual instruments, is alot better. Using actual instrument sounds, gives your track a much different, yet organic feel, to your orchestral track.

Or if you want, use a combination of both real, and synthisized instruments for your epic orchestral track.
