Took me all of yesterday to do it and i used spline modelling for the first time the centre peice was made with spline modelling and the top and bottom bits of the collum were also “splined”
I cant really judge myself if its a good model or not so your opinions are apreciated
yes its around 60,000 poly but someone told me i should make a low poly copy and bake the high poly detail onto the lowpoly model thus rendering a very nice low poly model, but i would have no idea how to bake model details onto one another? :o
yes i can probably reduce the polys abit by removing unnecesary edge rigns cause my the spline modelling because i used a lathe modifier and every piece that was spline modelled is about 10k poly alone
It’s a nice looking model! Would look pretty nice on a low poly with normal map I think. BUT!
I don’t know how many times I’ve had to say this, but showcase is about showcasing your games! This isn’t an art forum! Try polycount.net forums if oyu want really good C&C! Or post in gossip!
Sketchup with the “Sketchy Physics” plugin allows me to make really good models in a VERY short time. In Blender, you can do a lot also but there is a MUCH steeper learning curve to get over so taking models I make in Sketchup and polishing them with Blender works well for me.
You could probably get away with some hundred, or maybe a thousand or two on your model.
All you need is a clever Normal Map bake. depending on your situation, you could even bake it to a plain cylinder
