My first game - Upon the Stars

Heya, I made a game in unity in my free time and I’d love for people to play it and let me know if you like it.

It’s an auto runner where you control a star that can swap gravity to dodge obstacles and you need to make it to the end of the level. There’s also some kick ass music playing. I tried polishing the way the gameplay feels a lot to make it satisfying to play. The game is pretty hard and kinda similar to “The Impossible Game” and “Geometry Dash” in the sense that there are multiple stages with varying difficulty and their own themes to it.

The game is out for free on itch.io and the Google Play Store for Android.

I’d be happy if you gave it a try and left some feedback, since it’s my first game in unity.
Thanks for being interested

It’s my first game and I think it has to do with oversized images which I scaled in the editor instead of just scaling them down before including them in my project. The new game I’m working on probably has double the content and is only half the size, so I’ll definitely look into optimizing more in the future. Thanks for playing it

Hi, just tried your game and the controls seem a bit janky. The gravity swap doesn’t always work correctly and the gravity seems to speed up pretty fast. Might wanna fine tune it and play test it a bit more - but i like the idea of the game.

Thanks for trying it out. I’m aware that the tutorial of the game kinda does mess with the controls of the game, but I’m not really sure how to do it differently. Idea is that you let the star move until the tutorial prompt comes and then you click to switch direction. After that the game works correctly, just make sure that you tap quickly as to not swap back and forth when holding down. I tried removing the gravity swapping while holding, by adding a delay, but that made the game very unresponsive. You also need to click on the right side of the screen to change gravity, so maybe that is the reason why it doesn’t always work correctly for you. I will definitely try to improve these things when I make a new version of the game, since I learned a lot since then.
