Im starting my first project outside of university. Just finished off my first year and wanted to work on a couple of things over the summer break. During the course of making the game im going to put out development diaries showing what ive been doing.
The main thing for me is though to get other people involved a little. Say one week I could ask viewers of the video to send in voice’s for character’s, some artwork or 3d models ect and I would put the best of the submissions into the game, as well as give credit to those who created it. It would promote other people’s work as well as my own.
Ive got my first video up doing a little introduction and telling you guys about the idea. If you could check it out I would really appreciate it.
I like the destructibility, looks very nice! As for you asking which explosion of the wall looks better, in a 2d setting I would use the second explosion thats not as dramatic. It gives the player a better view of the destruction they cause, and it wouldnt hurt to have some of the destruction flying horizontally, rather than only vertically. The first one would probably look better if the player cold change the camera angle and look up to see the scope of destruction, but Im assuming they cant, but say it would look nice in an FPS or something.
Yeah I thought the second one was better too seeing as you cant really view above the player. As for destruction moving horizontally ill take a look at that for next week, i suppose the wall really should move to the right when a rock hits it as well as up from the force of the explosion.
Dynamite could be interesting, so could guns I suppose but I was looking for something a little different. Those weapon types are far too common. Maybe the character could have a kind of force ability to destroy houses with their mind haha. Id actually like the player have the ability to control an element, such as water or earth. That could somehow be used to destroy the houses.
Episodes 9 10 below. Personally I think these are the best so far so Id really appreciate you taking a look. Starting to feel more like a game rather than just shapes.
