Forget DOTS. The comparison is between quantum computing and classical computing. DOTS is irrelevant in that comparison.
- For the problems that quantum computers are ideally placed to solve that can also be solved by classical computers, quantum will be many magnitudes faster than classical… eventually (need to get more qubits).
- Quantum computers can do some things that classical computers just cannot, regardless of speed.
- Quantum computers have some limitations that classical computers do not.
DOTS is a bunch of concepts. Who says that ‘quantum computing’ can’t be part of that bunch of concepts in the future? Not suggesting it will, names and tech will change by the time game programmers are using quantum technology, but I’m just putting that out there to show how dumb the comparison is :). It’s like saying “DOTS is faster than computers”.
Well, regarding most general purpose computing DOTS is faster than quantum computing, since quantum computing as of today is a highly specialized field, you can’t do anything with it only some very small subset of problems. And although the computation happens fast it has to be marshalled by conventional computers.
