My Insomnia presents: Night Vigil!

Here is what I have have been working on for the past few years. I have the main plot-line done and am filling in some side quests, but it is playable from start to finish! Web player demo is on the way as well as a Steam Green-light page.

I used primarily two kits (ORK and TBTK) and wrote a lot of code to force them to work together as well as heavily customized both kits beyond recognition! Used many assets from the asset store as well as properly licensed models from DAZ, Renderosity, and Poser World. And just a touch of my own modeling. Audio came from a variety of royalty free and pubic domain places. All characters and story are original and belong solely to me.

The “RPG” rules are heavily modified 4C System rules. The 4C system is completely public domain with no restrictions on use.

Hey Drew nice release! And thanks for the web player too. Not enough people release a web player version for testing/evaluation in my opinion.

You’ve used the assets you managed to gather in very convincing ways. Nice job.
The individual animations of each character/enemy look nice and smooth. One thing I noticed was the reaction animations happen after the attack animations happen. It makes it look a little ‘off’ if you know what I mean. (Opinion) I think making the reaction animations initialize sooner or during the attack animation would be better.
Also some of the melee attacks - like the punches and swings have a noticeable gap between the arms and the attacked character. I know this is kind of standard for turn based games but I think adding in a “covering” effect would mask the distance. Like a hit effect or something. My first thought was the characters and enemies were just too small for each tile and would look better if they were larger, but I know that’s probably a drastic change which would take considerable work to incorporate.

Anyway - good job!
