My New Modular Sprite Animating tool is now in Beta! :)

Hi everyone,

After about a year of hard work I’ve finally released the first public beta version of my sprite animating tool.

It allows for the creation of game character, effect, and item animations by combining multiple smaller images (body parts for instance) to create each completed frame.

This is the sort of technique used to animate characters in games such as Rayman, Vectorman, Alien Soldier, and Odin Sphere!

Please go to www.brashmonkey.com to check out the youtube videos and download the beta version. I’d love your help finding bugs and making feature requests.

Please also join the forum at BrashMonkey to post bugs and feature requests as I’m announcing this tool on amny forums and wont be able to keep track of and respond to reports and requests on all of them.

Also, if you see the use of this tool, please help spread the word and help me get an extension made for Unity to support it.

thanks much,

BrashMonkey

this is interesting stuff … I never made a 2d game yet and im wondering how is this different than using another 2d game maker program like flash ? I never used flash or this new one you have made so keep that in mind.

Is there a Unity implementation necessary for this to work? I’m still watching the videos, and it seems really interesting. Of course if your videos cover using this in Unity, just tell me to keep watching the videos.

Looks very interesting  Have to agree w/Mel – I’d love to see the program and tutorials cover Unity use hehe. Regardless – NICE work!

Curently the tool simplt exports its data as a simple plain english INI text file… an engineer could create code or an extension ofr nearly any game engine to support it. I’m curently in the process of trying to find engineers who make extensions for Unity and other popular game authoring systems who would help in this regard.

stay tuned and please help spread the word.
