My refund request is being ignored? (Unity answer please)

I purchased an asset January 25th and asked for a refund few days later after I gave up hope that this asset can accomplish what I need it to. (I explained details in the refund request).

The information window says that the refund tickets usually take 14 days to get addressed. It has now been more than 3 months. No response.
I posted an additional message to my refund ticket more than 14 days ago (maybe it got missed). No response.

I’ve been using Unity for more than 10 years, I purchased a lot of assets through the years.
I have asked for refunds before.
Never an issue.

Is this some new behavior that I should know about?
Should I abstain from and also recommend to fellow developers not to use the asset store any more?

Can I please get a response Unity?

Kind regards

Sadly it can take about 3 months for them to get back to you, i also got told because i had downloaded i couldnt have a refund… I argued my case, and won, but you may have a battle ahead…

Yes, but I think it’s more of a side effect than a deliberate one. Unity did recently start a reset of the company.

Up to you. I don’t recommend people abstain from the asset store just because of a lack of refunds. You’re passing up on too many practical resources. I’ve spent money in the past on assets that I never used but if I had stopped I’d be out many very valuable assets that were worth every penny.

I have kindly asked the publisher to send a ticket to Unity for this same refund. I think this helped me, but I am not sure.

Within a few days Unity reacted to the publisher’s ticket (few days old) and gave me a refund.
Within same hour I received the response to my ticket (3 months old) saying it’s refunded.

When I asked Unity how come it took so long to get a response, and would I even gotten a response if I didn’t ask the publisher to ask for this refund as well - the answer was that Unity is currently responding to tickets with 3 month delay.

Was the asset unable to do what you thought it could because it didn’t work or because it didn’t work in the way you expected? If it’s the latter you aren’t likely to see a refund.

The asset didn’t work as I expected… And what you wrote is untrue since I just received a refund.
It seems you didn’t read the thread.

Hopefully this thread helps someone else be patient (3 months) or try asking for a refund via the publisher.

Your anecdotal evidence doesn’t make it untrue. It just makes you lucky. We have another thread where someone is currently up to four months.

I did read the thread, but sometimes people word things inaccurately. Very often refunds have been rejected through the asset store for anything less than defective product or a product that has been removed from sale within a set amount of time of purchase*.* As Ryiah said:

I would highly suggest stop purchasing off unity and reach out to the developers, unity screwed me over multiple times hiding behind their “Policy”. You shouldn’t have to wait a week let alone 3 months for a refund. In the future claim a chargeback on unity, as what they are doing is fraud, unity acts as the seller and maintainer of plugins, they are legally bound to consumer Fair practices (They are not resellers).

I posted a low review for Gaia (Their plugin contains a git LFS file because of this is breaks projects, if I add a library that make a plugin not work then that is an issue with the package as a whole they are just using any excuse they can to remove bad reviews), they removed my review and banned me from making any reviews.
