Haha. You got it right, this is the flagship, the pride of humanity. Humanity though, doesn’t have much pride, and what pride they do have is dwindling, because their numbers are dwindling.
What kind of starships are we talking about here? Like if you have like serious ships I would like name it: Dreadnought or Vulture etc. If it’s based more on real world like situations then big ships are mostly named after important people, large cities. Cool names can also come forward out of many other things like law, politics or economy. But my personal favorite names are when named after fish (like barracuda) or birds (Condor or Falcon).
That’s funny, that’s the name of the class of ship. The enemy is a dreadnaught class ship, so I can’t use that. But you’re right, I should name them after cities and things. But the problem is, this is the biggest, baddest, most insane starship ever made, nothing that has ever been seen before, so I need it to be original, something that doesn’t follow the same naming process of other ships.
Uahhh! I really dislike mythologic names for ships n spaceships. Every second ship is called poseidon. Also I don’t like deputizing citynames. What I do normally is to take real names like wind, wood, wool (the whole dictionary) and rebuild them with other form of writing.

One of my future battleships is called “Cajhmere”. You could google that name and will only find cashmere.
Real ships are actually a mix of normal names, names the builder liked and so on like the HMS Sally-Ann or so on. So normal names, family names - are a perfectly good suggestion and far more realistic than say vulture or superspider or whatever. But if you’re not in a realistic feeling game then go wild by all means?
Oh… I thought you were joking. That makes sense, I’ll take that into consideration. Realism isn’t my main goal though. It has to be a name that sounds cool. I don’t just want it to appeal to people that play these kind of games all the time, and are accustomed to my cheesy like names. I want a name that everyone, including people who play war fps games like COD and MOH and games like that who will sit down and say, oh the “Shadow Star”, that sounds stupid, and then they don’t play the game. I’m trying to avoid that. I’m getting off topic, what I’m trying to say is that realism is not the main focus.
